Unstable Foundation
Consequences of emergency conditions arisen during erection of a new building on the combined foundation
The frontal section of the apartment house (19-a Mitchurinsky av.) mounted at the edge of the trench which was ready for grouting of monolith under the foundation of a supplementary building extension, collapsed supposedly because of plastic rock deformation at the bottom lift of the house foundation. After reinforcement of the foundation and structures joints, the frontal section was restored and the building extension with a small number of storeys was erected. |
Before making the decision on the foundation reinforcement there was not fulfilled any detailed survey of the entire volume of geological environment (underground space). Three years later there appeared cracks in the basement part of the low-rise building which were the evidence of the house foundation instability and continued development of negative processes in its basis. |
